Deer In The Apricot Orchard

There were at least a couple of mommies in this extended family, and each mommy seemed to have a one-year old and a new born.

6581  I first met this mommy and her new-born just outside the gate. I think the mommy was showing her fawn the way into the orchard (the gate was open at the time) when I came along which made the mommy nervous.

6582   The fawn acted a little surprised that her mother had moved off so smartly, but she quickly collected her wits to try and follow - but her legs were still a little gangly and wobbly

6660   The mother now appeared to be behind the fence, but eventualy the fawn figured out to go through the gate opening and scampered after her mother.

6674   The mother had been keeping a close watch behind her to make sure the fawn would be catching up. You can tell she is suckling a young 'un.

6663   The fawn rejoins her mother, and all is well in the orchard again.

6640   Meanwhile there was another doe who took an interest in who this human was with one big eye

6645   She moved around a bit with her nose to the ground to see if there was any tell-tale odour.

6661   Then she came a little closer to eye-ball me directly, but ready to bolt at a moment's notice.

6658   Eventually she settled in a patch of shade to make doe eyes at me.
