Willemina Karelina Brice-Smith
Pictures taken at the gathering after her funeral  –  on March 3rd 2020

These photos were taken at the gathering, at The Old Thatch Inn, Cheriton Bishop, Devon, following the Funeral ceremony and subsequent burial of Willemina (Willy) at Crossways Woodland Burial Ground nearby. A tree will be planted on her grave by the family, in due course.

The pictures were taken by her long-time friend Jennifer Radford - seen on the right here - who kindly made them available to me.

Willy and Jennifer had known each other since they both entered nursing school at the Middlesex Hospital in London in 1957, a friendship that lasted over six decades.

Willy had talked about her friend to me often - how "Jen Barnard" (as she was known at the time) provided an island of stability and assurance for her as my sister coped with the culture shock that a colonial teenage girl from Africa suffers on landing in this new circumstance.
