Vines and Wines for 2023, Featuring The Vintners of Los Altos Hills

In the spring of 2023, the hard-core organisers got together and decided on a date in October to hold the next tasting. But first there was a lot of work to be done - financial, logistical, publicity, recruitment of a wider army of volunteers as well as for vintener participation, and on and on.

But on on Sunday afternoon October 15th 2023, all the work came to fruition. The traditional "Vines and Wines" event was held once again at Town Hall - the organisers, the vintners, and members of the public came together to enjoy some locally grown gifts of nature....

Twenty-One Vintners participated and tasting tables were set up in a circle round the Oak Tree at Town Hall as in previous years....

The wines being presented this sunny afternoon covered a wide range...

By Sunday afternoon, after a few hours of preparation and set-up, the team of volunteers swung smoothly into action.

Early arrivals checked in at the front desk and received their ID badges

1430 Former Mayor and perennial volunteer Elayne Dauber was caught giving advice to the putative next Mayor of Los Altos Hills.

1431 The video crew swung into action to create the materials for a brief documentary about the occasion.

1451 Ooops - is that the Permit Inspector coming in this direction?

1453 Cheers!

1454 This one looks a little suspicious... is that the right label?

1455 As I suspected - this needs looking into further...

1461 Taking a well-earned rest in the kitchen, we found Diane Claypool - Chief Motive Force for organising (along with some helpers) provision and distribution of the food supplies for the tasting. She's done this a few times.... (!)

1463 The cinematographers were steadily making the rounds, interviewing both vintners and tasters

1465 Anne Duwe, Master of Ceremonies and Chief of Operations, welcomed the attendees and announced the presence of auction items (left in the picture) to be bid on.

1466 ...and a great time was had by all!

Wine (and munchies to clear the palate) went on into the afternoon as the shadows lengthened, as the early comers slowly drifted off home, the late arrivals kept coming in...

And so, the 2023 edition of this bi-annual tradition was wrapped up for another episode - to be planned for October 2025!
